Color wheels are visual aids for artists to see primary, secondary, and tertiary colors at a glance.

Primary Colors are the only colors in existence that are comprised of no other colors. There are only three primary colors:

Red, Yellow, and Blue

Secondary Colors are made of two primary colors. For example: Yellow and Blue make Green when mixed.

Tertiary Colors are comprised of one secondary color, and one primary color.

Which color is a Tertiary Color?

  • Red

  • Purple

  • Orange

  • Blue-Green

If you answered Blue-Green, you are correct! Blue is a primary color, and Green is a secondary color that is created by mixing Blue and Yellow. Purple is a secondary color created by mixing Red and Blue. Orange is a secondary color created by mixing Red and Yellow.
