The Full Story
I'm April N. French — instructional designer, graphic designer, narrative strategist, and the rare creative who operates fluently
across all three.
For over a decade I've been building experiences that don't just inform — they resonate. My foundation is a BFA in painting, drawing, and printmaking, which means I bring compositional intelligence and visual craft to spaces where most instructional designers hand off to someone else.
I don't hand off. I execute.
My path moved from graphic design into content strategy and eventually into learning experience design — not because I left design behind, but because I found a space where design, story, and systems thinking could work together at full force. That intersection is where I do my best work.
Today I design interactive, narrative-driven learning experiences for adult learners across industries — writing voiceover scripts, dialogue, and UI-aligned content, producing multimedia modules, and building the kind of curriculum architecture that holds up at scale.
My work has supported audiences from frontline workers to senior leaders, always with a focus on engagement, accessibility, and intentional craft.
What makes my approach different is the throughline: I treat every learning experience as a design problem and every design problem as a story waiting to be told. Voice, structure, visual language, and interaction aren't separate considerations — they're one decision.
If you've been looking for someone who can think strategically, design beautifully, write compellingly, and build experiences that actually work —
you've been looking for me.
